I am a modern calligraphy artist from Kiev, currently based in Toronto.
My way started back in 2012 with street art and exploration of letterforms. This hobby created a path into the OCAD University where I studied Graphic Design. Using collected knowledge, my focus shifted from the traditional image of a designer to more of an artistic perspective.
Since 2020, I am a great supporter of modern Calligraphy movement. The main idea is to absorb knowledge of different cultures & their alphabets >>> to transform traditional letterforms into more abstract / expressive / interesting shapes. Firstly, deconstruct each letter into its basic forms, and put back together through my own lens. With this practice, I believe to unite those cultures together.
In my works Arabic stroke can flow into a Japanese one smoothly, or strike through the straight Latin character. Because of this, each viewer can decode the hidden message differently and understand the work in their own way.
